Scoliosis affects roughly 3 in 100 people and usually appears during the growth years. It rarely hurts at first, which is why it is often noticed as something else: a shoulder that sits higher, a waist that looks uneven, a shirt that never hangs straight.
Checking takes one visit. Not checking is how curves get found years later.
Any of these are worth an evaluation:
In adults, an existing curve can also start producing back pain, stiffness, or fatigue that other treatment has not resolved.
Dr. Atzmon performs a postural and spinal examination, including the forward-bend test, and measures asymmetry. If findings suggest a curve, he will advise whether imaging is warranted to measure it properly.
You leave knowing whether there is a curve, roughly what size, and what the reasonable next step is. No guessing, and no waiting months to find out.
Dr. Atzmon will walk you through the findings and what they mean for your age and curve size, since those two things drive everything that follows.
For general spinal health, mobility, and pain that comes with a curve, he treats that here. For custom scoliosis bracing, we refer to our sister practice NJ Curve Care, which focuses specifically on curve bracing for patients ages 14 and up. Same practice family, dedicated expertise.
Same day in most cases, and we are open Saturday mornings. No referral is needed.
We are in network with most major New Jersey carriers. We verify your benefits before your visit and go over what to expect, so nothing about the cost is a surprise from us.
